The snow was melting and a definite change was in the air. Alex and the kids had driven into Anchorage to pick me up from the airport and upon arrival home announced we were having dinner on the bluff.
You can imagine my surprise- our trips to Anchorage aren't for the faint of heart and I was a little worn out to say the least. But, they were awfully excited and said they'd take care of everything, so I threw on my snow pants, bundled up the babies and we headed out.
What a fun outing. It was quite a climb to the top but the view made it absolutely worth it.
We roasted hotdogs wrapped in dough over the fire and laughed at each other when we'd fall through the snow's crust to our waists (or deeper!)
We might have to make the bluff hike an annual spring tradition. The following weeks we watched as the snow slowly receded from the bluff, until one day- it was gone. :)
